Saint Arnold Production Up 19% in 2013

Saint Arnold Brewing Company recently announced that their production was up 19% in 2013 to 5,397,000 barrels, even if most of that stopps its westward movement at I-35. Fancy Lawnmower Beer, Amber Ale, and Santo were the top three sellers. It is unknown if Endeavour still ranks #1 among Wagyū cows, because Heaven forbid we get any here in Paradise.

Saint Arnold Brewing Company Hires Chef

Ryan Savoie, former chef at Houston's The Grove, and earlier, Pizzareia Alto, has gone to work for Saint Arnold Brewing Company in their new kitchen. They will offer seasonally themed meals that will change daily. You can keep up with the menu using Twitter. The food will be beer-centric in the Belgian, French, Alsatian style. Saint Arnold owner Brock Wagner grew up in that region of Europe. It should open in mid-March.

From the Interstate

I finally found some Divine Reserve 12 old ale. That's right. On the interstate.

Another Big Middle Finger From Ben E. Keith

Ever eager to bring more craft beer from around the country to the Great Texas Craft Beer Desert, Ben E. Keith is only bringing one case--count 'em: one--of Divine Reserve 12 from Saint Arnold Brewing to Gillespie County. Last year, they brought five. Despite Saint Arnold producing more than last year, we're getting less. Apparently, the markets on the Interstate are more important.

In fact, I can drive 24 miles south of Paradise, and find Saint Arnold Endeavor in a couple of stores.  How many stores here carry them? Not a fucking one.

But, we can get beer from Hawaii! Fuck Texas beer!  You want Texas beer? Move to an Interstate! This is why we have distibutors: to keep beer out of markets!

Saint Arnold Endeavour - Review

I am changing my beer review criteria. In the "Overall Impression" section, I will grade the beer on it's availability here in Paradise. You can't be bothered to come here or you can't get your distributor to make the trip, then I can't be bothered to score your beer on "overall Impression". You show me the finger, I show you mine.

Jester King rocks!

Anyway, since folks here in Paradise can't get any Imperial IPAs from any of the Texas breweries, I had to go to Dallas to get some Saint Arnold Endeavour. (Don't even get me started on Pumpkinator!)

Appearance (0-3): Pours up clear with a dense white head. 3 Points

Aroma/Bouquet (0-4): I could smell the hops when i opened the bottle. Full of Citrus aroma. Delicious! 4 points

Taste (0-10):  Nice balance between the hops and malt. Reminds me of Pliny the Elder. Excellent mouthfeel! 9 points

Overall Impression (0-3): Since Endeavour is Ben E. Keith's big "F U" to anywhere off the Interstate, I don't feel bad about giving 'em a big "F U" back. 0 points

Total: 16 Points
