I Wish Senator Shumar was My Senator!
New York Senator Charles Schumer recently launched his "I Love NY Brew" Campaign inspired his trips across the state visiting the many craft breweries.
"...it was easy to see that craft brewing is actually one of our fastest growing industries in upstate New York and Long Island. . . I'm announcing a brand new initiative called the 'I Love NY Brew' campaign, to help get local brews on local shelves and into local menus. This is a call to restaurants, bars, convenience and fuel stores statewide to sell our locally brewed beer."
Schumer said he is going to ask the New York State Restaurant Association and the National Association of Convenience Stores to carry locally brewed beer, will be working with the New York State Brewers Association to help promote small breweries create jobs in the state.
The project won't have a budget, and will run by word of mouth out of Schumer's office.
Wouldn't it be great if Texas had such a forward thinking legislator; someone who wants to grow jobs in the state and collect more tax revenue?

Forward thinking? Like irrationally banning an alcoholic beverage because some of his major campaign contributions come from its competitors? NO THANKS.
He's doing more for New York beer than any of our legislators. They keep making it hard for local breweries.
Did he ban a beer in the New York market as a whole, or did he ban it at a party? If I gave money to a candidate and he used my non-donating competitor's product, I'd be pissed, too.
He campaigned to ban the sell of alcoholic beverages combined with caffeine. "For the kids!" Good beer should be able to compete with Four Loko. And adults should be able to choose what they want to drink.
He IS doing more for beer than our senators, but I sure as hell don't think a nanny stater that wastes time tackling issues like airline bag fees is forward thinking.
But, again, compared to our guys, who are doing everything they can to allow a Belgian Company dictate Texas beer laws.
XENOPHOBE! ;)
How about this? I wish our senators were doing far more for Texas beer than what Chuck Shumar does for NY beer. I think we can all agree on that!
Agreed!
Hatchet buried.
